Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

FAQ ON TRAIN TICKETS AND TOURS

No booking confirmation received?

After submitting the “Finalise booking” reservation, you will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes. If not: Please check the correct spelling of your e-mail address and check your spam folder (junk mail).

My group has fewer participants than booked. What can I do?

Changes to the number of persons can be made by cancellation up to 7 days before the programme date with subsequent rebooking. After this cancellation period and when purchasing instant purchase items, it is not possible to adjust the number of people or cancel.

If you have booked a group package, a change in the number of people has no effect on the price. However, we would be pleased if you could inform us briefly about the adjustment, especially if you have booked an offer with lunch.

Can individuals or smaller groups book a guided tour?

Depending on the offer, reservations can be made from 1, 4 or 10 people. In addition, individual tickets can be purchased for each open group booking, provided the group maximum has not yet been reached. So it’s worth popping back into the shop from time to time.

Can last-minute guests book a guided tour?

Spontaneous guests can book a guided tour from 1 person up to 30 minutes before the start time. You can pay by credit card, PostFinance or Twint in the online shop.

What happens if some of the guests are late?

We try to reach the missing guests by mobile phone. After a maximum waiting time of 5 minutes, the tour will take place with the guests present.

Important: please let us know your mobile phone number when you register.

Can different languages be booked on the same tour?

All guided tours are generally in German.

Foreign languages are only available on request from the sales office at welcome@grimselwelt.ch and are offered exclusively at all-inclusive prices after clarification.

Is there a children's rate?

Children under the age of 6 are not allowed to take part in a guided tour. For children between the ages of 6 and 15, there is a children’s rate on our cable cars and on the guided tours. Guided tours are generally recommended from the age of 10.

Can I book train tickets for groups?

Yes, but a ticket reservation is only possible by purchasing a ticket online. Please note the cancellation conditions depending on the selected payment method in the GTCs.

Can I return or exchange my purchased ticket?

A subsequent change, exchange or refund of the purchase price is not possible. Exception: Cessation of operation due to technical defects and weather conditions (see GTCs). In this case, please contact welcome@grimselwelt.ch

I don't have a credit card. Can I still buy a ticket online?

Tickets can be purchased online using the aforementioned payment methods, including Twint. Purchase on account within Switzerland is possible from a minimum order value of CHF 400.00.

Cash purchases are only possible on site at the ticket offices of the respective cable cars and at the Grimseltor Tourist Centre in Innertkirchen.

How long are the tickets valid for?

The tickets are valid for the calendar day and time of day specified at the time of purchase. Subsequent changes, exchanges or refunds of the purchase price are not possible.

Can discounted or free journeys be reserved?

Discounted/free tickets can be purchased at the staffed sales points of the railways on presentation of the relevant ID. We recommend purchasing tickets directly via the webshop. The ticket price will be refunded to authorised persons at the staffed points of sale of the railways on presentation of the relevant ID.

Exception: Promocodes can only be redeemed and claimed in advance in the online shop.

A refund of the discount is not possible.

Where can I redeem a Grimselwelt voucher?

A Grimselwelt voucher can be redeemed for all offers in our online shop, at the ticket offices of the Gelmer and Trift Railway, in the Grimseltor Tourist Centre and in the Grimselhotels.

Why are not all courses displayed?

All courses that can be booked online are displayed. The courses not shown are either already fully booked, blocked for other offers or can only be booked on site at the ticket office of the respective mountain railway for the operational organisation.

What do I do if I arrive at the railway too early or too late?

The ticket is only valid for the journey printed on it (date/time). As a gesture of goodwill and subject to availability, earlier or later courses may be offered – without guarantee.

I have only bought a valley ticket. Do I still have to pick up a season ticket at the ticket office by late. 15 minutes at the ticket office?

No. When purchasing a single descent, you do not need to pick up a season ticket at the valley station in advance. Show your ticket to the railway staff.
