Gersteneggbahn

The winter connection to the Grimsel region.

During the winter, the Gersteneggbahn operates according to a fixed schedule and takes you straight to the ski tour area and to the winter hiking trail leading to the Grimsel Pass and on to Oberwald. Everything you need to know about reservations, parking, operating times, the nature reserve and tour experiences can be found in the “Tour experience info sheet”.

Grimselstrasse is open as far as Guttannen in the winter. The latest “Avalanche warning and traffic report” provides information about driving conditions and which sections of the road are open or closed as far as Handeck. Before you set off, check that your train is running by looking at our rail report. Due to the rapidly changing weather conditions in the mountains, operations may be suspended at short notice.
