At the Grimselwelt, we live in harmony with nature and our region, not to mention our suppliers. We always use local businesses wherever possible. This is reflected in our menu, where the majority of our meat products come from butchers from the region, our milk from the dairy in Meiringen and our bread from the Frutiger bakery in Meiringen.

With its original furniture from the 1930s featuring tables and chairs from Horgen-Glarus, our restaurant is reminiscent of a classic French brasserie. The room is simple, down-to-earth, and comes with bags of charm and character. Drinking and dining here follows the same principles. The room is alive and buzzes with laughter, and everyone is welcome.

Terrace

With views of Lake Grimsel, up to the peaks of the Finsteraarhorn and deep down into the Aare valley, it is immediately apparent that our terrace is one of the most breathtaking around. The range of food and drinks on offer here is small but perfectly formed, with selected wines by the glass and regional delicacies such as the “Säumerplättli” platter.

Felsenkeller - Wine cellar

The real treasures at Grimsel Hospiz can be found underground or, more precisely, in the famous rock cellar with its unique setting as home to a selection of wine specialities. Over 300 different wines are stored here, many from the sun-kissed vineyards of the neighbouring Valais region. All of these bottles are waiting to be taken, uncorked and enjoyed – preferably at a relaxed round of drinks accompanied by a thin tarte flambée.

Spitallamm Bistro

Directly next to the Alpinhotel Grimsel Hospiz, a century-old structure is being built to replace the Spitallamm dam. And it is precisely after this dam that our bistro is named. The small offer is perfect for the small hunger and all those who are passing through.

Only open on Mondays from 09.00 – 17.00 (warm kitchen 11.30 – 16.00), self-service.

Everything is made with genuine craftsmanship. Regional products are presented at their best and refined with flavours from the wide world of culinary arts.
