At the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz, the past and present meet in perfect harmony. This was the first Swiss hotel to be mentioned in official documents way back in 1142. It made headlines in 1932 as the first hotel in Europe to feature electric heating. This environmentally sound approach was also followed during the extensive renovation of the hotel from 2008 to 2010, with the entire hotel now heated using environmentally friendly waste heat from electricity production. This is something that is embedded in the local region, with the historic four-star alpine hotel sitting majestically above Lake Grimsel in the heart of “KWO country”.
