Over thousands of years, the river has eaten its way through the limestone. A path takes you through the gorge over walkways and through tunnels. The Meiringen-Innertkirchen-Bahn (MIB) travels directly to the stops at the west and east entry points to the gorge. The Aare gorge is fully navigable when both entry points are open. Once you have reached the other side, the MIB brings you back to the starting point.
Dogs must be kept on a lead. The Aare gorge is accessible by wheelchair from the west entry point (Meiringen side) to the middle of the gorge.
