With the small Hospizbahn we float over the Staumauern Spitallamm down into the underground. After a few meters we reach the Grimsel 1 Power plant and from there our tunnel bus takes us to the Grimsel 2 pumped storage plant, which lies 500 meters below the Oberaarsee and 100 meters below the Grimselsee deep in the Grimsel granite.
Back through the tunnel, we reach the treasure trove of the Grimselwelt – the Gerstenegg Crystal cave. This Crystal cave was discovered in 1974 during tunnel construction and was placed under protection by the Bernese cantonal government shortly afterwards.
Finally, the Hospizbahn takes you back up from underground to the Hospiz viewing platform.
