IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Tours are carried out in German. English may be available on request.

Transport from Innertkirchen, tour through Handeck 1, 2 & 2E power plants, and visit of the crystal exhibition. Followed by a tasty lunch of soup, sausage and bread.

Construction of KWO’s first power plant in Handeck got underway in 1925. A second power plant was built in 1947, with the addition of a third, state-of-the art plant in 2012. On this journey through three generations of power plants and the imposing maze of tunnels, you will find out more about 100 years of pioneering work in hydropower.

The new crystal exhibition in one of the winding tunnels is another highlight of the Grimselwelt: The most beautiful “sparklers” discovered in 2019 during the blasting work for the replacement Spitallamm dam are on show here to visitors.
