Modernity meets the past at the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz. Switzerland’s first documented inn stood here as early as 1142. In 1932, it caused a sensation as the first electrically heated hotel in Europe. This environmental concept also guided the comprehensive renovation of the hotel from 2008 to 2010 – the entire building is heated with waste heat from electricity production in a conscious and environmentally friendly way. As a historic four-star alpine hotel, the hotel sits majestically above the Grimsel reservoir in the heart of the KWO region.
Winter at the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz means switching off and slowing down. Sunk deep in the snow, the historic house is enthroned in the middle of an impressive natural landscape. The extraordinary journey by cable car and through deep tunnels allows guests to leave the everyday world behind them. The atmosphere in the hotel is personal, a fire crackles in the fireplace and a steaming hot tub awaits guests under the starry roof.
