The Rychenbach – as it was known in old German – finds its source at the Rosenlaui glacier. This beautiful, imposing waterfall is 120 metres high and up to 40 metres wide, and can be reached easily with the Reichenbachfall-Bahn. Close to the summit station, three viewing platforms offer a breathtaking view of the thundering waterfall shrouded in mist, plus the Haslital.
This excursion is a must for Sherlock Holmes fans. It was here that the famous detective challenged his arch-enemy Professor Moriarty to a fight – their hand-to-hand battle ended with them tumbling into the depths.
