The MIB is an important part of the public transport system in the Alpenregion Brienz-Meiringen-Hasliberg. The train travels frequently between Innertkirchen, Aareschlucht and Meiringen.
The train stops at the East and West entrances to the Aare Gorge enable passengers a quick and comfortable round-trip hike through the gorge. In winter, the MIB is part of the free ski-bus system of the Meiringen-Hasliberg mountain lift companies.
