The Gelmer funicular, with its 106 % gradient, is the steepest funicular in the world. It takes you up to the picturesque Lake Gelmer at 1'850 m, from where you can undertake numerous hikes and mountaineering tours, or just enjoy the stunning alpine scenery. The bottom station is just off the Grimsel pass road close to the Hotel Handeck, 6 km above the village of Guttannen. Bus stop Handeck.

The Gelmer funicular opens for 2010 on Saturday June 5th and runs until October 17th.

Open daily from  09.00 - 16.00 (June, September, October). If the weather is fine: 08.00 - 17.00 in July and August. May be subject to change.

 Funicular travels up the mountain every full and half hour and returns at quarter past and quarter to.

The journey takes 10 minutes and the wagon holds 24 people.

Price:
Adults, one way CHF 15.-- / return CHF 25.--
Children, one way CHF 10.-- / return CHF 15.-
Every 2nd child is free of charge (in the company of their parents/grandparents).



Handeck Bridge - Thrilling spectacle
The new swing bridge offers a spectacular view down to the waterfalls 70m below. The bridge is situated at the base of the Gelmer funicular and a connecting path leads to the Hotel Handeck.
