DAY TRIP WITH A VISIT TO THE OBERAAR CONCRETE DAM AND THE POWER STATION GRIMSEL 2

Follow the water of the Oberaar from the Oberaarlake through the concrete dam into the power station deep under the Grimsellake. In between you experience stunning cable car rides, enjoy a meal with a beautiful view and get some insights into the construction site Spitallamm.

10:10 – 10:15 am Meeting at the Busstation Grimsel Hospiz.
10:15 – 12:30 am Cablecar ride with the Oberaarbahn and visit of the concrete dam.
12:30 – 01:30 pm Lunch at Berghaus Oberaar
01:30 – 02:15 pm Return with the Cablecar to Grimsel Hospiz
02:15 – 03:30 pm Information about the construction site Spitallamm and Cablecar ride with the Hospizbahn
03:30 – 05:00 pm Visit to the Power Station Grimsel 2 and Crystal Grotto. Return with the Hospizbahn.

Starting point & Journey
The tour starts at the Visitor Centre at the Grimsel Hospiz.
The Grimsel Hsopiz is accessible by train, bus and car.
Lunch
You’ll get a tasty Salad & Rösti with Sausage at the Berghaus Oberaar.

PHYSICAL prerequisite
The tour takes place on foot and partly underground. The Oberaar is located at 2300 m above sea level. A good physical condition is required to walk several stairs.
Our facilities are only partially handicapped accessible. They are not suitable for prams. Animals are not allowed.
Equipment
An audio system and where necessary a safety waistcoat and helmet will be provided. We recommend sturdy shoes and a warm jacket. Temperatures in our facilities range between 14 and 18 degrees Celsius.
Minimum age
The minimum age is ten. Children aged six and above can participate if accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.
Language
Tours are carried out in German only.
